My fishing buddies and I have taken trips to Sitka, Ketchikan and Juneau. Southeast Alaska is amazingly beautiful and the fishing for salmon and halibut is hard to beat. After reading Bob Stearns’ article (“Giant Salmon of Goodnews River”), it gave us food for thought about trying other portions of Alaska too. |

In 1990 I met Stu Apte quite accidentally while fishing the Gallatin River in Montana. I didn’t know him from Adam as we talked on and on about fly fishing. When I mentioned I was new to the area, he offered all sorts of information about the best ways to catch rainbow trout and the best flies to use.

I’ve never fished the Pacific Ocean off Guatemala, although the article about that (“Tease ‘Em In Iztapa”) makes it plain I should one of these days. However, what I’ve done that has also been very rewarding involves first enjoying a fishing trip to Belize, and then taking the short flight from Belize City to neighboring Guatemala City for a couple of days.
